Tirana police have cracked down on another case of international fraud through fictitious stock exchanges.
As part of the codenamed "Facade" operation, an apartment in Tirana turned into a call center was discovered.
Two citizens were arrested, who were managing the environment adapted for a call center, through which they deceived foreign citizens into investing in fictitious stock exchanges, while 12 citizens (operators) were released.
Two administrators, Argest Rushi and Leonard Maksutaj, and 12 operators were caught red-handed. The latter have been placed under investigation while at large.
"During the operation, the Police services intervened in the apartment on "Sulejman Delvina" street, which had been adapted as a call center, where they caught citizens AR and LM, as well as 12 operators, red-handed, who were deceiving foreign citizens into investing in fictitious stock exchanges.
The investigation revealed that the apartment was rented by citizen AR, who, in collaboration with citizen LM, managed this premises for the purpose of carrying out this illegal activity.
At the conclusion of the first investigative actions, citizens AR, 44 years old, and LM, 26 years old, environmental administrators, were arrested.
"And 12 citizens, operators, who were caught red-handed in the apartment, during the intervention by the Police, were criminally prosecuted," the police announced.
