A news story that circulated rapidly today in online media talked about a postponement of the punishment or Skënderbeg's return to the European arena in the 2028-2029 season, after the 10-year punishment he received starting from the 2016-2017 edition. To shed light on this situation, Top Channel contacted the president of the Korçë club, Ardjan Takaj, who has exclusively clarified the situation.
Takaj expressed complete surprise at this information, confirming that the Skënderbeg club has not received any new announcement from the highest European football institution.
" I am truly surprised by this information that is circulating in some online media. The Skënderbeg Club has no knowledge of such a claim. The truth is completely different from what is being alluded to on the portals ," Ardjan Takaj emphatically declared for Top Channel.
Further, the number one of Korça revealed very important details from the official correspondence that the club has had with the legal bodies of UEFA. According to him, the penalty issues are closed according to the deadlines clearly set long ago and that there is no extension of the penalties.
" Some time ago, our club was officially informed by UEFA itself that the punishment has ended. From the 2026-2027 season, Skënderbeu is completely free and clear to continue competing normally in the European Cups ," added the club president.
At the end of his reaction, Takaj emphasized that Skënderbeg's journey towards returning to the international arena now depends only on performance on the field of play. The club has its eyes on the future and the only objective remains the sporting one.
" Our path to Europe passes only through the field. We need to fulfill the first and main criterion, which is the sporting one: classification in one of the countries that ensure participation in the international arena at the end of the championship. We are focused on work and our project, outside of anything that seeks to destabilize our environment ," concluded Takaj.
