Senegal have faced a major disappointment after their dramatic World Cup exit, losing 3-2 to Belgium in extra time. The Africans led 2-0 until the 85th minute, but failed to hold on to their advantage, suffering a defeat that sent them out of the tournament.
After the match, one of the most important players on the national team, Pape Gueje, reacted harshly to the coach and technical staff, announcing that he would temporarily withdraw from the national team.
" I will come back to say a few words about the elimination... but today I am announcing that, as long as this technical staff is in charge, I will take a break from the national team ," wrote the Villarreal midfielder.
The Senegal national team is led by Pape Chau, who has been in charge of the team since 2024. Gueje's statement is expected to increase pressure on the technical staff after the painful elimination from the World Cup.
