There are still a few hours left until the publication of the Serie A calendar for the 2026-2027 season. The Italian league will officially present the program of the next championship on Friday, June 5, while the algorithm that will determine the 38 weeks of the season will be based on four important organizational innovations.
The new Serie A season will start on 23 August 2026 and will end on the weekend of 30 May 2027. The calendar will have to adapt to changes in the international match schedule, with the first interruption resulting in the absence of two weeks of the championship, on 27 September and 4 October. The other two international breaks will take place according to the traditional format, in mid-November and at the end of March.
Meanwhile, two more weeks of midweek matches are scheduled, specifically on October 28, 2026 and January 6, 2027. The championship will also be suspended during the end-of-year holidays, with a break scheduled for December 26 and 27.
One of the most important changes is related to the coordination of the calendar with the major sporting events taking place in Italy. After the situation created last season, when the Rome derby was played in parallel with the Masters 1000 tournament at the Foro Italico, the organizers have decided to also consider the ATP Finals in Turin and the Internazionali d'Italia in Rome.
For this reason, during the development of these tournaments, the derbies of the respective cities will not be scheduled, specifically Juventus-Torino in Turin and Lazio-Roma in the capital. Also, the derbies will not take place in the last two weeks of the championship, respectively in the 37th and 38th weeks.
Another innovation concerns teams participating in European competitions. Teams involved in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League will not be able to face each other in the weeks between two consecutive rounds of European matches, with the aim of avoiding calendar overload.
The full Serie A 2026-2027 calendar will be officially presented on Friday, June 5, at 6:30 PM, at the Teatro Regio in Parma, as part of the Serie A Festival.
