Albanian football is in mourning after the news of the passing of former renowned international referee, Hiqmet Kuka. He was considered one of the most prominent refereeing names in the country and a figure with an important contribution to the development of Albanian football.
The news of his passing was announced by the president of the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF), Armand Duka, through a public reaction on social networks. In his message, Duka praised Kukë's figure and contribution, describing him as a dedicated professional and a role model for the younger generations of referees.
" It was with deep sorrow that I received the news of the passing of Hiqmet Kukës, one of the most prominent names in Albanian refereeing and a figure who gave a lot to our football. His contribution as a FIFA referee and the professionalism that characterized him will remain a reference for the younger generations ," said Duka.
He also conveyed his condolences to the deceased's family, friends and the arbitration community, closing the message with the words: " Rest in peace ."
