Sergio Conceicao took over at Al Ittihad last week, but only today made his official debut on the bench for the club in Saudi Arabia. And for Mario Mitaj, it wasn't good news.
Like his predecessor, Laurent Blanc, Conceicao has decided to keep the Albanian national team defender out of the team's list for the championship matches. Thus, the left-back has trained regularly with the team, but was not on the protocol for today's match played in Riyadh against Al Fajha, which ended with the figures 1-1, after Benzema missed a penalty in the 88th minute.
Mitaj's omission from this challenge, as in the previous ones, comes from the fact that in Saudi Arabia, only 8 foreign players can be included in the protocol. Rajkovic, Danilo Pereira, Kante, Fabinho, Diaby, Benzema and Bergwijn were the foreign starters today at Al Ittihad, while Doumbia was activated in the second half by Conceicao in this duel.
If the situation does not change, it will be a big problem for Mitaj to be active in the ranks of Al Itihad in the coming month until the next matches of the National Team, where the only exceptions can be the Asian Champions League duels where there is no restriction on foreigners in the ranks of the teams.
