
Albania U-17 for girls played the first match of the first qualifying round of the European 2026 against Greece this afternoon. In the match held at "Elbasan Arena", the team led by Cyme Lulaj was defeated with a score of 2-0.
Coach Lulaj fielded this lineup: Ambra Reshiti (GK), Reiana Jahelezi, Marina Rushaj (c), Aldisa Kronaj, Audrina Lajthiza, Albana Malaj, Andrea Klleci, Heidi Bekteshi, Emi Maksuti, Tuhana Cifliku and Kejsi Demiraj.
The red and black girls played a very good first half, with good organization and ball circulation as well as some dangerous alternatives towards the opposing goal. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
In the 55th minute, Greece took the lead thanks to a goal scored by Elisavet Shortsianiti, while in the 86th minute Athina Papurci scored the second goal, sealing the final score 2-0. Albania created several good chances to equalize, but failed to convert.
In the other group match played today at the "Arena Egnatia", Israel defeated Estonia 3-1. The second matches of this group will take place on October 20. Albania will face Estonia at the "Elbasan Arena" at 14:00, while Greece will play against Israel at the "Arena Egnatia" at 12:00.
