As part of the promotional campaign for the U-17 European Championship "Albania 2025", the Football Federation organized a festive event this afternoon in Durrës, which brought together children and residents of this city.
The activity that was held in the square in front of the Palace of Culture focused on the promotion of this historic event for our country as well as the involvement of the Durrës community in this major sporting event that will take place from May 19 to June 1 in Albania.
This event was attended by the President of the Albanian Football Association, Armand Duka, the Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Endrit Hoxha, the tournament ambassador Klaus Gjasula, as well as members of the Albanian Football Association Executive Board and representatives of the Durrës Football Association.
President Duka spoke about this major event that will take place in our country, considering it a historic moment for Albania. The head of the Albanian Football Association invited all citizens of Durrës to support our national team in this championship as well as to welcome the other 7 finalist teams. President Duka expressed his confidence that all Albanians will turn this event into a sports celebration.
" Just a month later, the 7 best teams in Europe will join our national team to develop this important European competition that is happening for the first time in the history of Albania. We are proud to have the opportunity to host such an event. I am very convinced that with your support, with the support of many factors in the country, we will make a model championship. We will turn it into a celebration not only of sports, but more than sports.
Being from Durrës, I am very happy that we are opening the promotion of the European Championship in my city today and I am convinced that Durrës will know how to do it like the other three cities, welcoming the teams, supporting them with the presence of all of you and more than you on the steps of the stadium to make it a real celebration. Everything is now ready, the four stadiums where the matches will be played are ready, 10 reconstructed fields with the contribution of the Albanian government and the Albanian Football Association are ready. Let's all support this European Championship together and experience it in the best possible way. I invite you all to follow this European Championship in the stadium .
Durrës is one of the host cities of the U-17 European Championship, while some of the final matches of this edition will be played at the "Niko Dovana" stadium. The Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Endrit Hoxha, in his speech praised the contribution of President Duka in organizing the U-17 European Championship in our country and added that it will bring vitality, tourism and life to the city of Durrës.
" Honorable President of the Albanian Football Association, Armand Duka, it is an honor and a pride and I believe that it is all your contribution and tireless work that a European Youth Championship is coming to Albania.
I believe that the preparation, especially for the city of Durrës, is at the highest level. Our support comes after your support in your organization so ambitious. It will bring vitality, tourism, life to the city of Durrës and I believe that all together we will enjoy the miracle and the most beautiful sport that is football ”, – said Deputy Minister of Education and Sports, Endrit Hoxha.
The tournament ambassador, Klaus Gjasula, greeted all those present and invited them to support our national team in this European competition.
" It's a difficult group, they are strong teams. We will enjoy the moment, we will have the opportunity to show who we are. We will also show the world the support of the fans, we will support the boys and we will have self-confidence ."
