Spain coach Luis De La Fuente has revealed his philosophy ahead of the World Cup final against Argentina, describing the match as a duel between two great teams with many points in common.
The Spanish coach described the final as "a magnificent spectacle between two fantastic teams", which according to him have many similarities in their way of playing and will seek to control the match according to their ideas and principles.
For De La Fuente, just being in the World Cup final is a great privilege and what matters most is the opportunity to fight for the trophy.
" I would sign up every year to reach the final and lose. The important thing is to have the opportunity to fight to win. We will seize this moment, with our strengths and our qualities, against an opponent who has had a spectacular journey ," declared the Spain coach.
Messi? There will be no individual marking
Regarding how Spain will attempt to stop Lionel Messi, De La Fuente made it clear that there will be no specific plan with individual marking, but maximum concentration is required from the entire team.
" We will be very attentive and will follow him with great care ," he said of the Argentine star.
The Spanish coach praised Messi as an example for the younger generations of footballers, highlighting his professionalism, behavior and exceptional level in this World Cup, despite his age.
De La Fuente also reassured fans regarding the physical condition of Lamin Jamal, who missed a training session.
" He is fine, in perfect physical shape ," assured the Spanish coach.
