According to a BuzzFeed report, Trump allegedly asked Hayek out on a date several years ago, but the actress declined, as she was already in a relationship at the time. Following the rejection, articles were published in the media, specifically in the National Enquirer, implying that Salma Hayek was "too short" for his tastes.
The actress spoke openly about this incident on the show "El Show del Mandril" on Radio Centro, where she told how the whole story began. "When I met this man, I already had a partner. He tried to be friends with him to get my landline number," Hayek said. According to her, after he managed to get the number, Trump began calling her repeatedly to ask her out.
Ironically, after news of her height broke, Trump contacted her again. "He left me a message and said, 'Can you believe this? Who would say that? I don't want people to think that about you,'" the actress recalls.
Salma Hayek explained that she immediately understood his intention: "He thought I would try to date him, so that people wouldn't think that was the reason he didn't want to date me." According to her, it was all an attempt at emotional manipulation.
"He was trying to make me feel humiliated so that I would agree to go out with him. But I am not ashamed of my height," the actress concluded, once again showing the strength and self-confidence that characterize her.
