"Orange" returns to the screen tonight, in its 44th season. The comedy show, one of the longest-running on Albanian television, has received criticism this time from the general public.
The reason for this massive reaction was the impersonation that actor Gaz Paja made of a well-known TikTok character named "Gland Beach", an Albanian living in Germany. This character is known for his insulting statements towards compatriots who work hard abroad, while he himself benefits from social assistance from the German state.
The fact that such a figure took up space on the stage of "The Orange", even in terms of humor, has angered many followers. For the public, this is a clear indication of the decline of former standards.
Many Albanians remember with nostalgia the period when "Portokallia" offered original sketches and talented actors like Agron Llakaj, Gentian Zenelaj, Julian Deda, Ermal Mamaqi and others, who managed to bring sincere laughter. Today, according to them, the show is giving space to the "anti-values" of social networks.
How did they comment on the start of this new season?
There was no shortage of harsh criticism of the comedy show on social media. And here's how they expressed themselves:
"Orange has filed for bankruptcy," one of them writes.
While someone else irritatedly writes: "Humor with TikTok's morons? Are these guys serious?"
"What is being done by promoting anti-values has neither art nor creativity," claims one commentator.
