A year after being released from prison, the wife of "El Chapo" has appeared on the catwalk of Fashion Week in Milan.
Emma Coronel Aispuro, 35, was a model when she married El Chapo. She was sentenced to three years in prison in 2021 after pleading guilty to charges related to helping her husband's Sinaloa cartel, including participating in his escape from custody in 2015. Under her plea agreement, she agreed to hand over approximately $1.5 million in illegal cartel funds.
But this has not stopped him from returning to his old profession. She appeared in a royal wedding dress as part of what the designer called her "rebirth".
El Chapo, 67, whose criminal empire was known for its brutality and murderous rampages, continues to serve a life sentence - without the possibility of parole - in a maximum security prison in Colorado.
Ms Coronel's father, Inés Coronel, was also a senior member of the Sinaloa cartel and is serving a 10-year sentence in Mexico for drug smuggling.
