The Duchess of Sussex has been criticised as "insensitive" after sharing a video of herself riding with her legs up in a limousine near the Paris tunnel where Princess Diana died in a car crash.
The footage, which appears to have been filmed by the Duchess herself, shows her putting her feet up inside the car as it passes bridges, including the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalides.
The other bridge across the Seine is the Pont d'Alma, near the Pont d'Alma tunnel in which Diana, lover Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul died in August 1997, a tragedy that caused such trauma for her son Harry, Meghan's husband.
The new controversy comes as Meghan made a surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week, her first trip to Europe since the 2023 Invictus Games, which took place in Düsseldorf, Germany. She was seen at a show for luxury fashion line Balenciaga, mingling with other guests including Vogue's global editorial director Anna Wintour, actress Anne Hathaway and film director Baz Luhrmann, with whom she shared a kiss.
The clip, which shows her cruising along the Seine, with her legs raised and legs crossed while sitting in the car, was shared with her 4.2 million Instagram followers overnight.
And royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams called the post 'utterly bizarre', 'extremely stupid', 'insensitive beyond belief'.
He also suggested that Prince Harry may have a gloomy view of his wife's position.
'Diana's death is a tragedy that has left its mark on much of Harry's life and I can't imagine he would find this very fitting'
