Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have recently been the subject of mixed reactions from the public and the media. The couple, who usually reside 90 miles north of Los Angeles, flew to Pasadena last Friday to help with relief efforts for the Eaton Fire.
In partnership with Mayor Victor Gordo and local emergency teams, they visited evacuees at the Convention Center, offering comfort and distributing provisions. Meghan, wearing an LA hat, was captured on video hugging evacuees alongside Harry, showing their compassionate presence during the crisis.
Mayor Victor Gordo praised their involvement, saying: "This is their second visit today. We were here earlier today and they were serving food, anonymously. No one knew they were serving food, with masks. They came out here to work."
He further explained that the couple personally thanked first responders and visited affected families to see the damage up close.
However, not all responses were positive. Online speculation quickly arose, with some questioning the authenticity of their visit. A video showing Meghan hugging a woman fueled suspicion, with one online commenter claiming, “The girl Meghan was hugging is leaving with them, so it’s clear she’s staff.”
Despite the criticism, Harry and Meghan's contributions included donations of clothing and children's items for those affected by the fires.
