According to Kyle Eastwood's statements to a French media outlet, Clint Eastwood has definitively retired from filmmaking, ending one of the most important careers in Hollywood history.
Just days after the cinema icon's 96th birthday, his son spoke about their long-standing collaboration and hinted that Eastwood is no longer active in the film industry.
"I have many fond memories of working with him. He's retired now, he's 95 years old. I was very lucky to have worked with him on several films," Kyle Eastwood said during the interview.
Although Clint Eastwood and the studio he collaborated with have not yet made an official announcement, his son's comments are considered the clearest indication yet that the legendary director and actor has concluded his artistic journey.
Eastwood became a global figure thanks to Sergio Leone's famous trilogy of westerns and later became identified with the character of Inspector Harry Callahan in the "Dirty Harry" film series.
In addition to his success as an actor, he built an extraordinary career as a director, making acclaimed films such as Unforgiven, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino and American Sniper. Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby won the Academy Award for Best Picture, while Eastwood received two Oscars for directing.
His latest film as a director is the courtroom drama Juror #2, starring Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Kiefer Sutherland and JK Simmons. Barring a surprise comeback, this film is expected to remain the final chapter of a career that left a deep mark on world cinema.
