Former Democratic Party MP Kreshnik Çollaku has joined the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), a party led by Lumir Abdixhiku. The news was made public by former Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, who is also part of the LDK list for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Osmani praised Çollaku as an important supporter of Kosovo in the regional and international arena, especially during the period when he was an active part of Albanian diplomacy at the Albanian Embassy in Washington. She also recalled that Çollaku served as a foreign policy advisor in her presidency.

According to Osmani, Çollaku is also one of the founders of the December 1990 Student Movement in Albania, a generation that contributed to the overthrow of the communist dictatorship and the country's orientation towards democracy and the West.

Vjosa Osmani's post

A life built between university, diplomacy and the cause of Kosovo. Today, together with Lumiri, we have the pleasure of introducing Kreshnik Çollaku as part of our political journey. Niku has linked his commitment to supporting Kosovo, democracy and the Euro-Atlantic orientation of Albanians.

For more than 20 years as a university lecturer, he has shaped generations of students in the spirit of democratic thought, public responsibility, and Western vision.

In the most important periods of Kosovo's international consolidation, he served at the Albanian Embassy in Washington, contributing to strengthening American support for Kosovo and promoting its cause in American diplomatic circles.

As a member of parliament for the Democratic Party of Albania and an active part of parliamentary diplomacy, he has been a strong voice in support of Kosovo in regional and international forums, defending its right to independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Kreshnik Çollaku is also one of the founders of the December 1990 Student Movement, the generation that overthrew the communist dictatorship and linked the fate of Albanians with democracy and the West.

Above all, he has always maintained a special connection to Kosovo, its people and its future. Today, he is also a proud citizen of the Republic of Kosovo and, as my foreign policy advisor in the Presidency, has made a valuable contribution to opening Kosovo's doors to the world, and in particular to deepening relations with the United States.

We believe that the Assembly of Kosovo needs people with experience, integrity and vision, and in Kreshnik Çollaku they will find one. Welcome Kreshnik and good luck on this crucial journey!
