Kosovo Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca called on Serbia to accept reality and recognize Kosovo as a state at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council. During his speech, Konjufca added that the only obstacle to the normalization of relations between the two countries is Serbia.
"Kosovo remains ready to normalize interstate and neighboring relations, however, the obstacle to peace and normalization of relations remains Serbia, which is neither interested in normalizing relations with Kosovo nor in joining the EU. We call on Serbia to face its own reality and recognize Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state and not hold the entire region hostage to a hegemony ," said Konjufca.
Konjufca further accused Belgrade of interfering in the elections in Kosovo by openly supporting the Serbian List.
"Belgrade has continued to play its destructive role by trying to interfere in the elections, by trying to support the Serbian List in the elections in Kosovo, aiming to reflect its leadership with a ruling party. We have prevented such foreign interference and have managed to preserve the dignity of our democratic institutions ," he added.
