Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated that so far he has not received any official proposal from the LDK for a presidential candidate, commenting on the claims about the name of the current president, Vjosa Osmani, as this party's proposal.
In a press conference, Kurti said that he has held several meetings with LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, but according to him, no concrete proposal was presented in any of them.
" I have met Abdixhiku several times, there was no proposal. Regarding yesterday's appearance in the late hours, they did not have any proposal before the session ," Kurti declared.
He said that only after the session was adjourned, around 11:00 PM, was a document presented with 15 signatures of MPs, but without the name of a specific candidate.
According to Kurti, the document did not specify that the signatures supported any name for president and, as such, cannot be considered a formal proposal.
" There was no one's name there, except for the signatures of 15 deputies. It did not say that those names are for a specific candidate. The names should come to me ," he said.
The Prime Minister added that the letter, according to him, was dated April 25 and not the date of delivery, questioning its procedural validity.
Kurti stated that, if there was a clear proposal from the LDK, he would be willing to meet the proposed candidate and consider changes to the race, mentioning the current candidate, Hatixhe Hoxha.
" If we had a clearer name for the LDK, who we are talking about, I would meet the presidential candidate, Hatixhe Hoxha, and it would be changed with the other candidate ," he said.
Ironically, Kurti said that 15 signatures could constitute "half a candidate", but not a full candidacy to proceed to the Assembly.
" With half a candidate for president, we can't go to the Assembly. Let them bring that candidate and we'll go to the race ," Kurti said.
