On the anniversary of the April 5, 1999 massacre, the representative of the institutions honors the murdered and emphasizes the need to punish the crimes
Acting President Albulena Haxhiu paid homage at Rezallë in Skenderaj in memory of the victims of the massacre committed during the war in Kosovo.
On April 5, 1999, Serbian forces killed 98 Albanian residents of Rezalla and surrounding areas. Of these, 44 people disappeared, while their bodies were removed to hide the traces of the crime.
During the memorial event, Haxhiu emphasized that the attack targeted unarmed civilians, who were forcibly removed from their homes, separated from their families, and then executed. According to her, the relocation of the bodies to mass graves outside Kosovo was aimed at preventing the crime from being solved.

She stated that institutions will continue efforts to ensure justice for the victims of Rezallë and for all crimes committed during the war, including murders, disappearances and expulsions.
Haxhiu emphasized that such events remain part of collective memory and require institutional treatment until justice is established.
