The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has reacted through a video message regarding the signatures submitted for his dismissal from the position of party leader.
Abdixhiku announced that the signatures have been verified and that he has authorized the LDK secretariat to initiate procedures for convening the party's Assembly, a body that will decide whether or not he will continue to exercise the duties of chairman.
In the same statement, he announced that, as a result of recent developments within the LDK, he would discontinue negotiations with the Vetëvendosje Movement on the formation of institutions.
This situation comes on the same day that media reports circulated that Vetëvendosje and LDK had reached an agreement in principle for co-government. According to reports, Vetëvendosje would propose a candidate for president, while LDK would take over the post of speaker of parliament and the leadership of three ministries.
However, LDK spokesman Besian Mustafa has denied these reports, stating that "the published news is not true."
Recent developments are expected to impact the progress of political processes and discussions on the creation of new institutions in Kosovo.
