The elected MP of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Armend Zemaj, and the president of the second branch of the LDK in Pristina, Florian Dushi, submitted on Wednesday the collected signatures for the call for the extraordinary assembly of the party.
The initiative was launched with the request to dismiss Lumir Abdixhiku from the position of party leader, after LDK again came in third in the June 7 elections.
Abdixhiku rejected the request of several branches to resign after the defeat. Zemaj declared days ago that more than 150 signatures have been collected to call this assembly.
The party's secretary, Ilir Ferati, stated a day ago that once there is an official request for such a request, it will be treated seriously.
The LDK Assembly has 355 delegates, and its meeting can be called with 118 signatures. After the deposition of these signatures, according to the LDK statute, the party leadership is obliged to call the Assembly within 60 days.
Abdixhiku survived a vote of no confidence on January 31, following the December 28 elections. From those elections, the LDK gained three MPs in the June 7 elections. In the June elections, it ran with former President Vjosa Osmani as the leader of the list.
