Former Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati has spoken about how Albania should vote at the UN on the Gaza issue.
He said that Albania has a moral obligation and an obligation towards the country's history to vote for a humanitarian presence in Gaza.
" Albania is not an island country. Albania must respect its own history. We are a country with a specific weight. We are not a voice in the international arena, or is no one asking us how the conflict in the Middle East can be resolved.
"We must respect our history, our suffering, the unquestionable friendship with Israel and the contributions that Albanians have made during World War II in saving the Jews and a kind of balancing of our history with international law. So by voting in principle for a greater presence of humanitarian organizations in Gaza, this in no way legitimizes Hamas' terrorist actions nor does it question our friendship with the state of Israel ," Bushati said on "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania.
