Salianji accuses Berisha: He is bargaining with Rama for electoral and
Former Democratic Party MP, Ervin Salianji

Former Democratic Party MP, Ervin Salianji, has publicly reacted to the recent boycott of the parliamentary session, stating that the MPs of the DP parliamentary group were against this decision and sought to politically confront Prime Minister Edi Rama in the Assembly.

According to Salianj, the deputies were not allowed to participate in the session by Sali Berisha, who, according to him, justified it by claiming that he had concerns about the protesters and the throwing of eggs, while the real reason is different.

"If there was a will for the opposition, the MPs would be in the hall to confront the government. The real fear is from the increasingly strong demand of the citizens for Sali Berisha to leave, as he has become the political crutch that keeps Edi Rama in power. Under the pressure of the citizens to leave, Berisha is making new agreements with Rama," he said.

In his reaction, Salianji claims that "two bargains" are currently taking place to the detriment of the opposition and citizens, which are related to electoral reform and territorial reform.

He stated that, in his assessment, Berisha has not presented any concrete proposal for amending the Electoral Code, nor has he offered an alternative for how the opposition should conceive of the new administrative division of the country.

Salianji also emphasized that, according to him, when the opposition gives up confronting the government and engages in agreements on reforms, it loses its opposition role and moves into a form of political coexistence with the majority.

The two big summer bargains between the Rama-Berisha allies are trying to be covered by the noise of the egg shower!

The parliamentary group's own deputies, who have called for a political confrontation with Edi Rama in the Assembly, have been against the boycott of the plenary session. However, Sali Berisha does not allow them to participate, hiding behind the justification of fear of protesters and eggs, while in reality he is defending his agreement with Edi Rama.

The claim that the boycott is being done because of eggs is the justification. If there was a will for the opposition, the deputies would be in the hall to confront the government. The real fear is from the increasingly strong demand of the citizens that Sali Berisha leave, as he has become the political crutch that keeps Edi Rama in power. Under the pressure of the citizens to leave, Berisha is making new agreements with Rama.

Meanwhile, two major bargains are taking place at the expense of the opposition and the citizens.

The first issue is electoral reform. Sali Berisha has not presented any serious proposal for amending the Electoral Code. He does not demand 100% open lists, does not demand a national proportional system and does not defend the right of citizens to directly elect deputies. He is abandoning one of the main demands of the protesters and is also silent on the proposals presented by the Forum for Dialogue between opposition parties.

The second issue is territorial reform. Just a week before the end of the term of the Territorial Reform Commission, Sali Berisha has not presented any alternative for the way the opposition thinks the new administrative division of the country should be organized. After the joint tour with Edi Rama to every regional center, where he contributed to the concentration of political representation in a few hands, he is now silently handing over the territorial reform to him, without debate, without transparency and without any alternative vision for Albania. Berisha is likely to boycott Rama and pass the territorial reform as he pleases.

When the opposition gives up the battle against Rama and bargains for electoral reform and territorial reform, we are no longer dealing with opposition, but with political coexistence and co-government. The boycott of the Assembly is not an act of resistance to Edi Rama; it is the next cover for the bargains being made away from the eyes of the citizens.
