In the Tirana District, the counting of preferential votes for candidates on open lists continues, while from the votes for political entities, it has already been determined which parties will be represented in the new Parliament resulting from the May 11 elections.
Edi Rama's Socialists have received 19 mandates, while the 'PD-ASHM' coalition led by Sali Berisha has stopped at 13 mandates. On the other hand, Agron Shehaj's 'Mundësia' has 2 mandates, while Tom Doshi's PSD has 1 mandate. Also, Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet and Lëvizja Bashkë of Arlind Qorri have 1 mandate each.
According to the latest data from the CEC, 311 out of 1,282 ballot boxes have been counted for preferential votes. These votes will determine the 7 deputies who will be added to the closed list of the Socialists, while in the case of the Democrats, only 1 name can be entered.
Based on the data so far, Blendi Gonxhja, Minister of Economy, Innovation and Culture, continues to lead as the most voted candidate, followed by Ervin Hoxha, Minister of Interior, and Fatmir Xhafaj, former Minister of Interior. Also among the most voted socialists are Erion Bracce, Antonela Dedej and Anila Denaj.
On the other hand, a tough race for 1 term as MP is taking place between Ilir Alimehmet and Jorida Tabaku. Despite Alimehmet's slight advantage over Tabaku, it seems that the race between them will continue until the last ballot box.
Referring to the results so far, in the Tirana District, many well-known political names could lose their seats in Parliament, including Pandeli Majko and Ilir Meta, the former on the SP list and the latter on the PD-ASHM list. Similarly, Shpëtim Idrizi of the PDIU could lose his mandate, as could Mimi Kodheli, Olta Xhaçka or Etilda Gjonaj, three names listed on the SP list.
