The result in Fier is overturned, Zegjine Çaushi loses her mandate; a recount of the last ballot box is expected

A sudden reversal has occurred in the Fier region, where the recount of votes by the Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS) has overturned the initial result of the elections for deputies within the Socialist Party.

At the center of this “internal duel” are two socialist candidates: Zegjine Çaushi and Maldrita Bardho. On May 11, Çaushi was declared the winner with 64 more votes than Bardho. But the request for a recount submitted by the “Albania Becomes” initiative has completely changed the game; after opening almost all the ballot boxes, Bardho has come out ahead by 9 votes. Çaushi has been stripped of 47 votes, while Bardho has been added to 26 votes, narrowing the gap between them. 

Meanwhile, only the last box remains to be opened, which will determine whether Çaushi will lose his mandate, handing over the seat to Bardho.
