Socialist Party MP, Erion Braçe, has spoken about his ambition to become mayor of Tirana.
He emphasized that everything must come through an open and honest process within the party. Meanwhile, regarding Ogerta Manastirliu, he said that if she leaves the process, then let her represent the SP, while adding that he does not deal with individuals.
He called for a real and transparent process for selecting the candidate, unlike the previous one which, according to him, was only formal.
" If there is a free and open process, without pressure and without influence from the presidencies, definitely. The news from the assembly meeting of unit no. 5 was not released by me. I wanted it to remain within the party, because I don't think we should cause a trauma to the SP at this moment, as it has enough problems.
No one can believe me that I am independent after 30 years as a member of the Socialist Party. I demand a real process within the party, unlike the one in September last year, which was just an announcement.
"I am a socialist. If another candidate emerges from this process, it must definitely be one who represents the Socialist Party, as is the case with Manastirliu ," he said in an interview for "Top Story" on Top Channel.
He expressed his interest in a meaningful political battle, adding that he is not in politics in vain. Addressing the panel on the program, he said that "you greatly underestimate the SP."
" What interests me is the political battle with substance. I do not sit around as a puppet or as a careerist. Tirana has a very big problem: it is neither self-governing nor governed."
I don't care about territorial division, I don't care about real local power. That's not what we're talking about today.
There are things that have been done well in this city, at different times. The construction industry in the city has no civic standards. There are no civic standards, there are no ethics, I am disgusted by the carbine that is being built there.
"I think it's a matter of standards. I'm looking for a new standard in this city, when the other one came to me and it dawned on me. You greatly underestimate the SP, I'm telling you the truth ," said Brace.
