MEP for the Greens in the European Parliament, Cristina Guarda, has announced that in the coming days she will visit Albania together with a delegation from this European political force, to meet with citizens and express support for protests against corruption, environmental damage and private interests.
Through a message published on social networks, in Italian and Albanian, Guarda explains that the visit aims to get to know up close, without the mediation of institutions, the reasons that have prompted the protests and concerns of citizens.
According to her, the delegation will also convey the message of the European Parliament committees and delegations that follow developments in Albania.
The MEP assesses that the protest of Albanian citizens constitutes an unprecedented mobilization, from which, according to her, Europe itself has much to learn.
"In a few days I will be in Albania, in the square with you. Thanks to the amendment proposed by us "The Greens", Europe tells Edi Rama that he cannot authorize an extra luxury resort without environmental assessments and laws that respect European standards. With the delegation of the "Greens" of the European Parliament, we will come to meet Civil Society, NGOs and Citizens already on the 24th day of the protest, non-violent, from which you are teaching us a lot. It is an unprecedented mobilization that demands more democracy, transparency and rights. I want to be there with you. Europe must listen to you. SEE YOU IN THE SQUARE", writes Cristina Guarda.
