Dashamir Shehi, after the political entity he represented, the Right Coalition for Development, did not receive any mandates in the May 11 elections, resigned.
Explaining his decision, Shehi stressed that with this resignation he has set an example of democracy. He added that the SP won because there is no alternative. According to Shehi, Berisha should not have been in the running for the elections.
"I was the head of the coalition with the Right 1912 and I resigned. Society has also changed a lot. Why I resigned is not the end of the world. I set an example of democracy. New factors have also entered politics. We must pave the way for young people. LZHK has a name and I believe it will remain as a name. The SP won, because there was no alternative. The SP also lost in the votes, but the DP lost many more votes. Even programs are not voted on, people wonder if what they vote for will bring them to power. People only vote for political leadership, not programs. I also negotiated with other small parties for a coalition, but I did not succeed. We lost the battle without entering the elections. I have been outside parliament twice and I can do politics outside parliament as well.
The agreement was that Rama would be prime minister and Berisha would be opposition leader and this is happening. There has been and will be vote theft in Albania, but the difference of 300 thousand votes is a lot. The ideological profile has dropped, it is a war of votes and a war of interests. The government steals, but the DP also has corrupt people and if they came to power themselves, they would steal too. Therefore, everything is business. In politics today you can't win if you don't have money, you have to be a businessman once and then enter the Parliament. Sali Berisha shouldn't have even entered this race. The opposition has consumed the characters. Some have lost face" , said Shehi on "News 24".
