Tirana police have arrested two 25-year-old women after a fire broke out in the apartment they had rented just the day before.
According to official data, the fire is suspected to have been caused by negligence. As a result of the spreading smoke, a neighbor asphyxiated.
The flames damaged not only the apartment where the young women were staying, but also several surrounding apartments. Authorities are continuing their efforts to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
"Crime Investigation Specialists of Police Station No. 2 arrested citizens K. Sh., 25 years old, and S. Gj., 25 years old, as it is suspected that due to their negligence, a fire broke out in their apartment. As a result, their apartment and the apartments of their neighbors were damaged. Also, citizen A. K. was taken to the hospital due to asphyxia, out of danger to his life," the police statement said.
