The Court of Appeal with General Jurisdiction has upheld the decision of the First Instance Court of Elbasan, definitively sentencing Erjon Llapushi to 17 years in prison for the murder of Gazmend Kurmaku.
The decision was made by a panel of judges composed of judges Qemal Zaimi, Taulant Banushi and Lutfije Celami, who dismissed the appeal filed by the defendant and confirmed the sentence given in the first instance.
The incident for which Llapushi was convicted occurred on October 20, 2021, at a bar in Fushë Labinot. According to the investigative file, the conflict between the parties began over a reserved table.
During the confrontation, Erjon Llapushi grabbed Gazmend Kurmaku by the throat, threatened him with a knife, and then hit him. As a result of the blow, Kurmaku fell, hitting his head on the floor, which caused his death.
