Two brothers lost their lives in Labinot Fushë while trying to wash themselves...
A serious incident has been recorded in Elbasan, after two minors drowned in the Shkumbin River. They are two brothers aged 8 and 10.
According to sources, they were with their mother guarding the cattle, but due to the heat they entered the river to cool off. However, the current took them away and as a result they lost their lives. The incident occurred in the Labinot Fushë area.
The bodies of the minors were found a few hundred meters below a short time later. Police are currently at the scene and are working to clarify the circumstances.
This is another serious event that is recorded at this time of year. Summer has generally brought tragedies to rivers and reservoirs. Many young people in mountainous areas choose rivers or reservoirs to cool off, but have lost their lives. Also, there have been numerous tragedies on the Shkumbin River.
In June of this year, a 6-year-old boy lost his life in the same river. The serious incident occurred on June 10, 2025, when citizen D. Aliu notified the Peqin Police that her 6-year-old grandson was missing and had not been seen for more than three hours. Immediately after the notification, the Police services, relatives of the 6-year-old's family and residents of the city of Peqin launched an intensive search along the Shkumbin River near the "Çezme" neighborhood.
At around 9:30 PM, the minor's lifeless body was discovered by a local amateur fisherman in a deep area of the river, where a fairly deep hole had been created as a result of the exploitation of the Shkumbini stream for the extraction of inert materials. The child is suspected to have fallen there by mistake.
