A major anti-drug operation was carried out today on the island of Mykonos by Greek authorities. It is learned that five people were arrested and significant quantities of narcotics were seized.

The action was taken as part of investigations to crack down on networks operating in drug trafficking and distribution in one of Greece's most popular tourist destinations.

It is learned that the leader of the criminal group is an Albanian citizen, previously known to Greek authorities. According to the same sources, he used a van to transport and distribute narcotics in different areas of the island.

During the operation, Greek police also discovered a house that was suspected of being used as a "shelter" for the storage and storage of drugs. In this facility, which according to the media belonged to the leader of the network, significant quantities of cocaine, "pink cocaine" (cough), ketamine, methamphetamine, ecstasy tablets and raw cannabis were seized.

The Hellenic Police Force conducted searches in several apartments, villas and other suspected premises. During the raids, narcotics were found hidden in unusual places, including inside shoes, in glasses and behind refrigerators, in an attempt to evade detection by the authorities.

According to information published by Greek media, cocaine was sold in Mykonos at prices ranging from 150 to 200 euros per gram. The network's main clients are suspected to be tourists and nightlife goers, especially during the summer season when the island experiences the largest influx of visitors.

Mykonos is considered one of the most important centers of luxury tourism in the Mediterranean, so Greek authorities have intensified controls against drug trafficking and organized crime, especially during the summer months.

Investigations are ongoing to fully uncover the group's activities and identify other individuals involved. Greek authorities do not rule out new arrests and additional findings, while searches of suspected homes, vehicles and other premises continue.

So far, the police have not published the identities of those arrested, while it is expected that other details about the operation and the extent of the suspected criminal network will be made public in the coming hours and days.
