Drug network dismantled in Italy, 16 people arrested; investigations extend to
Italian police

A large-scale anti-drug operation was carried out in the early hours of this morning in the Pescara area, Italy. Italian authorities executed 16 security measures against members of a structured drug trafficking network, among whom are several Albanian citizens.

According to Italian media, nine of the suspects arrested were left in prison, while seven others are under house arrest.

The decision is the result of an investigation launched in March 2024, which made it possible to collect evidence against persons involved, in various roles, in a structured drug trafficking system.

According to authorities, the suspects acted in various roles within a criminal organization that controlled the distribution of drugs in the so-called "Pescara bene" premises.

The operation, codenamed "MareMagnum", covers a wide territorial scope, from Pescara and Montesilvano to other provinces of Italy, with ramifications reaching even Albania.

Investigators managed to reconstruct the entire trafficking chain, from low-level vendors to the leaders of the organization.

According to the investigation, the criminal network also controlled people without criminal records, including traders and professionals, creating a well-organized distribution system. The illegal activity provided the group with income of up to 150 thousand euros per month.
