GJKKO leaves Florjan Musaj in prison

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has confirmed the security measure "prison arrest" for Florjan Musaj, the only person arrested so far in the operation against a structured criminal group suspected of international drug trafficking and money laundering.

Musaj appeared this Wednesday before the GJKKO and representatives of SPAK, as he is one of 10 people for whom the security measure "arrest in prison" has been assigned. During the hearing, he did not give statements regarding the charges, but asked for time to choose a defense lawyer, arguing that he had not had the opportunity to do so earlier. For this reason, the court assigned him a lawyer, Arben Peçi.

Of the people involved in the investigation, only Florjan Musaj has been arrested, while seven others, including Eldi Dizdari, Dritan Gjika and Shpëtim Aliu, are suspected of being outside Albanian territory.

Meanwhile, SPAK has announced that it has information that two of the wanted persons are in Albania and work is underway to locate and arrest them.

The list of people wanted includes: Nikoll Bibaj, Isa Aliu, Sokol Bibaj, Armando Pacani, Denis Matoshi, Naldi Yzeiraj, Oklid Aliu, Dritan Gjika, Salvadore and Shpëtim Aliu.

According to SPAK's investigations, the criminal group operated in several countries, including Brazil, Belgium, the Netherlands and other Latin American countries, between 2019 and 2021. The Special Prosecution Office suspects that at least 50 tons of cocaine were trafficked during this period.

As part of the operation, authorities have seized over 491 assets, with an estimated value of around 150 million euros.
