RENEA operation in Orosh, the Court leaves Erzen Uka and Julian Çumraku

The court has remanded in prison Erzen Uka and Julian Çumraku, who surrendered to the police after 12 hours locked in the abandoned apartment.

We recall that during the 12 hours of siege, Erzen Uka and Julian Çumraku locked themselves in the apartment and reacted with weapons against RENEA employees, risking their lives.

At around 09:00, they observed a person who, as soon as he saw the Police and RENEA, quickly left, entering an abandoned apartment, owned by a citizen with the initials PC (Julian Çumraku's grandfather).

It is reported that this person did not obey the call to leave the apartment, threatening the officers, while the Renea Special Forces arrived as reinforcements, who were shot at from inside the apartment.

A flag of the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization was found hanging on the wall of the house, along with 4 assault rifles and a pistol, which were seized by the police.

Also found inside the apartment were 17 defensive hand grenades, combat ammunition, electric detonator caps for detonating explosives, a fuse used to detonate explosives, and two cartridges.

The past of two people:

Erzen Uka, 35 years old, born in Gjorm-Kurbin, was convicted of the criminal offense of "Inciting hatred and quarrels".

While Julian Cumraku, 34 years old, born in Puka, convicted of the criminal offenses of "Theft" and "Threat".

Cumraku and Uka had long been under the surveillance of the Anti-Terrorist Service, while Erzen Uka, a former member of Albania's peacekeeping forces in Iraq, had been sentenced to three years in prison on charges of religious hatred.

In 2015, Uka was arrested on suspicion of preparing children and young people to join ISIS, an accusation that at the time led to strong clashes between Uka and Judge Bibë Ndreca.

The two people, although rarely seen on the village streets, had not caused any problems. They had even frequented the Kryezi village mosque, which does not offer regular services due to a lack of religious personnel.
