The hearing for the murder, kidnapping and disappearance of Jan Prenga continues at the Special Court, with defendants Dritan Rexhepi and Aldo Majnishta.
During the session, the Court announced that a letter of request has arrived in Albania related to the questioning of two witnesses, Astrit Prenga, the victim's brother, and Gëzim Shullani.
According to the contents of the letter of request, British authorities are requesting more information before proceeding with the questioning of witnesses.
"Before we review your request, we want to know the criminal status of the persons who will testify, details on the questions that will be asked of them, the charges for which evidence is requested, and how their testimony can serve SPAK's investigation," the letter states.
In the same letter of request, it is emphasized that the British police will be charged with obtaining evidence, based on the questions that will be made available to them by the Albanian authorities.
Meanwhile, today, the court must decide whether to make full communications from the SKY ECC application available to defense attorneys, in the context of a trial where defendants are accused of organized criminal activity.
SPAK, represented by prosecutors Elida Kaçkini and Behar Dibra, insists that the communications included in the file are complete, as far as they relate to this matter.
"I must clarify that between the defendants in this trial, the communications are complete. What has been removed are their communications with other persons. In this sense, we adhere to investigative secrecy, as we also suspect that Dritan Rexhepi is involved in drug trafficking. In this trial, he is a defendant for another criminal offense," said Prosecutor Kaçini.
On the other hand, the defense objects to the way SPAK has selected the communications it considers as evidence, emphasizing that the missing communications may be necessary for an effective defense of their clients.
After discussions, the parties agreed to continue the procedure, while the next session was scheduled for June 20, at 10:00.
