A quantity of 10 kilograms of cocaine has been discovered and seized by Italian authorities in the Fossano area, in the province of Cuneo, worth around 2.5 million euros.
It is learned that four Albanian citizens have been arrested by the Italian police, accused of involvement in drug trafficking.
Investigators followed the trail to a rural garden where seasonal vegetables were grown and where the narcotic substance was hidden. The cocaine was buried in the ground and divided into separate blocks, marked with well-known brand symbols, which are used in the illegal market to identify its quality.
"In pursuance of a decree issued by the Cuneo Public Prosecutor's Office, a check was carried out that led to the discovery and seizure of 10 kilograms of cocaine, divided into blocks marked with the logos of high fashion houses and luxury watch manufacturers, brands which in the illegal market are used to indicate the origin and quality of the drug," the authorities said.
During further searches at the suspects' residences, approximately 1,500 euros in cash were found, as well as equipment suspected of being used for the packaging and distribution of drugs.
Judicial authorities are continuing verifications to determine the role of each person in this case.
