In the April 2021 parliamentary elections, the DP (when Basha was officially the leader) received 39.5% of the votes at the national level (also helped by small parties allied in coalition with it, such as PR, PDIU, PAA, PBDNJ and PDK). Basha's supporters even physically confronted Berisha's supporters in the SHQUP building and after many vicissitudes, the latter took both the seal and the DP headquarters...
In the May 2025 parliamentary elections, the DP, fully owned by Berisha (legally and in reality), received only 34.3% of the votes here (it fared even worse in the emigration vote). So, compared to April 2021, the DP slipped 5.1 points, even though the LSI joined its coalition (in addition to its previous small allied parties).
In the “Voice of Albanians” polls that I have conducted in recent months for ABC NEWS, the slide in the DP’s quotas has continued at an alarming pace. Thus, in the poll of October 26, only 28.1% of the participants in the elections of May 11 this year had a positive opinion of Berisha’s DP. A drop of 6.2 points in five months and of 11.4 points in four and a half years!
