False patriotism!

False patriotism!

How can you be a patriot if you have betrayed the independence for which the KLA and the people of Kosovo fought so strongly through the tricks, deceptions, harassment, lies, and deceit of the government?

History, not the one taught in Turkish soap operas, but in books, shows that:

(1) in some eras, although rare, patriotism was very obligatory;

(2) False patriotism is one of the persistent infections that the vast majority of humanity suffers from and which apparently can hardly be cured.

For example, Vladimir Lenin's revolutionary Russia was a place where patriotism was loudly demanded, but reading John Reed's history of the first ten days of the October Revolution, one realizes that at least a quarter of those days were filled with shouting and screaming and three-quarters filled with a refined nonsense, embellished with patriotism.

A few sequences from yesterday's rally in the square, where there was no shortage of drunken political deserters, crocodile tears, and even less emotional patriotic songs, are enough to distinguish the serious and unfortunately incurable infection of false patriotism among us.

There are two expressions about the patriot that are of great importance in understanding what happened yesterday in the square. The first is a statement by Samuel Johnson made on the evening of April 7, 1775, at the Mitre Tavern, where he said that "patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel". The second also appears in the French Revolution and is Thomas Carlyle who declared that: "Patriotism is always infected with thieves and scoundrels".

Well, both expressions tell us that true patriotism needs neither tears nor rallies, but when it becomes the last refuge of evil, all are necessary.

So if we were generally good listeners and observers and paid attention to history, not Turkish soap operas, and above all had in our hearts the desire to care and help improve our nation, we would easily understand that those who organized that rally are false patriots, and the rally itself was an absurd performance.

The definition of patriotism, or being a patriot, is not very difficult to understand.

A patriot is: “a person who loves, supports, and defends his country with devotion.” This could sometimes include fighting for your country, especially against powerful enemies whose interests and philosophies conflict with ours.

How can you be a patriot if you have betrayed the independence for which the KLA and the people of Kosovo fought so hard through the tricks, deceit, harassment, lies, and deceit of the government?

How can you be a patriot when you abuse patriotism and use it as a tool to gain more power or money, or when you abuse it to serve the interests of a foreign country?

Oh! Let us remember that those who organized yesterday's rally were also the authors of the Open Balkans. They were the same "patriots" who, in order to pave the way for the export of Divjaka's watermelons, were helping Serbia accept Kosovo on occasion, according to its own wishes, according to its own conditions, only in initiatives initiated by it, but not multilaterally, in independent agreements such as the CEFTA agreements where Kosovo could maintain its independence.

Fully invested in friendship with Serbia, for years official Tirana paid no attention to the warnings made by Kosovo politicians about Serbia's real intentions in the Open Balkans.

Official Tirana did not withdraw even when Kosovo politicians reminded it that Serbia was still behaving as an aggressor country towards Kosovo and that it was pursuing Russia's interests in the Balkans. It did not withdraw from the Open Balkans even when Vučić summoned Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to a meeting, nor when Serbia was the only European country that did not join the sanctions against Russia, and even decided to stand by Serbia in Brussels. It did not withdraw from the Open Balkans even when Vučić moved the army to the border with Kosovo, provoking tensions in the North.

The organizer of the patriotic rally, in favor of triumph and grotesque personal protagonism, wrote with foreign experts a confidential individual personal plan for the Kosovo-Serbia agreement, without discussing or agreeing with intellectuals, historians, diplomats, Kosovars and Albanians, and even worse, without agreeing with the Kosovar opposition. The patriot who organized yesterday's rally was seeking invitations and prayers for help from the Albanian Prime Minister of Kosovo, otherwise he would behave like the Dutch or as factors "above the parties".

Yesterday in the square were not the legitimate heirs of the dedication of the hand on the heart, of the promise, of the best feelings for the nation. It was the false patriots who have the promise and dedication for a PERSON, their beloved leader, their mortal messiah, their monarch clothed in glory!

"By watching and listening, the world changes, notices, and builds. We Albanians cannot learn lessons; even if the mountains shake and crumble, we do not change our ways": said Konica.

And one of the lost lessons they are unable to learn is how to be true patriots.
