The Italian Senate has approved with 129 votes in favor and none against the pension recognition agreement with Albania, finally making it active once it is published in Italy's official gazette. Long-awaited news after lengthy negotiations with the neighboring country.

But who benefits from this agreement and how much?
Let's take the example of an Albanian citizen living in Italy. Person A has worked for 10 years in Albania. That is, he has paid contributions for this period. Later, he emigrated to Italy, where he has 12 declared years of work, for which he has paid insurance. At the moment the agreement becomes active, the years of work can be combined and according to the calculations, person A is recognized as having 22 years of work. In Italy, 20 years of work are enough to retire. This means that this citizen automatically retires and benefits from a pension in Albania, for the 10 years he has contributed and a pension in Italy for the other 12 years.
Albania is a country with high emigration to many countries around the world. Earlier, agreements for the recognition of pensions were signed with several countries.

More precisely, 12 such agreements have been finalized, with the most important being agreements with European Union countries, where the vast majority of Albanian emigrants reside. Meanwhile, four other agreements, mainly with Balkan countries, are nearing finalization.
But there are cases like Greece, where the largest number of Albanian emigrants are located, with which we still do not have an agreement on pensions. Despite open discussions, with this country, there is still no light at the end of the tunnel.

Negotiations are also underway with Serbia and Poland, while negotiations on pension agreements are also expected to begin with Denmark; Spain; Slovenia and Moldova. This is despite the fact that these countries have a much smaller share in terms of the number of Albanian immigrants./ A2CNN
