The Transparency Board has reduced the price of diesel by 3 lek, and it will now be sold at 193 lek/liter.

According to the announcement, it is reported that the price of gasoline has also been reduced, bringing it to 179 lek/liter.

The prices come into effect today at 1:30 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the sales price changes will be reflected.

In the announcement, the Transparency Board drew the attention of fuel trading operators to the mandatory implementation of the decision, warning of measures against any entity that violates the established prices.

Prices also decreased the day before, when diesel was 196 lek/liter, and gasoline 180 lek/liter.

The Transparency Board on May 8, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:

The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 193 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 181 lek/liter.

The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 179 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 167 lek/liter.

The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 8th, at 1:30 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.

We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.

In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail sales ceiling prices, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
