For several days, even almost two weeks, there has been a rumor circulating in Tirana, according to which a high American authority has told Edi Rama that you will no longer be prime minister.
The fact that Rama is mad and mentioned his banal and uneducated "Noc Rrokun" to America, feeds even more this voice, for which political Tirana is really boiling.
There are rumors that the US Secretary of State himself said this in a phone call; there are rumors, that the tragedy came to him by sponde, there are others who say that "mutual friends" passed it on to him.
So far we are at the level of voices, but if we compare the situation with the past years, this is how it has always happened.
In 2005, the head of the CIA went to Fatos Nano's office and told him the same phrase: "You will no longer be prime minister!". A phrase that never became official, but took hold and awakened and fed all the voices of society to overthrow him from power in the elections of that year.
But this time, we are dealing with a completely different situation. Where the opposition does not have the opportunity to mobilize as it is divided, and moreover, it - the opposition - is in its half undesirable from the US and the West.
On the other hand, it is not the situation of 2005, when the split of the SP as a result of the LSI founded by Ilir Meta, could favor the departure of the prime minister of the time.
However, there is a clear picture; Edi Rama is irritated with the Americans, and he makes this known clearly and quite openly, and on the other hand, there is a diplomatic drought with Washington. Although he went to the USA twice in September and October, no one in Washington even whistled at him.
A signal that means that America will no longer sponsor Edi Rama politically, and on the other hand, people from the opposition who are separated from Sali Berisha, do not hesitate to open this news in the political circles of the capital.
From these signals, it seems that the US is encouraging the opposition, giving it a message that it is likely that Edi Rama could be hit by possible investigations. And what could be the formula in such an event? That's where the game will start and it looks like we're dealing with a strong development, where rumors about Blinker's possible phone call, although unconfirmed, gain strength.
The USA is preparing a scenario after the 2025 elections, a scenario that will likely gain its power if there is a shake-up in the Socialist Party, a political development that could set up a new government, in the event of Edi Rama's coup . But can this happen?
This is exactly the puzzle, after a blockage of independent voices within the SP, as a result of the centralization of its governance. What seems to be, at least so far, the effort of the Americans is clearly to influence that Edi Rama does not get an absolute majority and control everything.
This seems very clear, and in all likelihood the Americans want to wrinkle the votes of the gray electorate that could go towards the majority.
It is precisely this effort that shocked Edi Rama, who for the first time thought that he could win even without America.
So did Sali Berisha in 1997, we know how it ended. But Rama is not Berisha, as he maintains and has connections with many political and power circles in Washington.
Even from the statements of his media supporters, it seems that Rama is rooting for Donald Trump, whose son-in-law he offered the island of Sazan. With the hope that if this happens, then the new administration, at least until May, will not pay attention to the situation in Albania.
