Edi Rama has ordered the second phase of the purge of Erion Veliaj's people in the administration, because he seems to sense the Tirana mayor's movement.
At UKT, the man commanded by Edi Rama as director, Skerdi Drenova, has undertaken a "big sweep", laying off a large number of employees.
The official motivation is "cutbacks to reduce the large number of staff bloated by the previous administration", but in reality everything is a political act.
The list has been carefully compiled, removing all people considered supporters of Erion Veliaj. A move that seems to have the stamp of the big man above, who seeks to purge the Tirana SP staff and support groups of those he considers "saboteurs."
After the UKT, a new "surge" is expected in other enterprises, in the Municipal Police, as well as in the central headquarters of the Municipality these days.
Rama intends to strike with a strong fist all the cells that are considered supporters of "Lali", to prevent any possibility of reactivation in a possible move by the mayor, which is causing him a headache.
Even though there were only two or three voices in the Municipal Council that were separated from the "large herd" that remained loyal to the prime minister, Rama viewed that small hearth of resistance negatively. So he decided to crush it with an iron fist.
In this period, the leader of the majority has entered the most difficult political phase, where he can no longer advance in new support. Therefore, he is seeking to stop by all means the "hemorrhage" within the majority, which has damaged the SP in the past, but which has also happened in other countries.
In the same way, Rama is implementing Erdogan's method of strengthening his power: by repeatedly purging his party and establishment of internal enemies that he sees as a threat. Veliaj is just another move. After him, in all likelihood, the game of "enemies" will resume: first by giving them power, and then by hitting them hard, as Rama has gathered in his hands the entire apparatus of state violence.
