The World Cup quarterfinal clash between England and Norway has produced tension not only on the pitch, but also in the stands.
Erling Haaland's father, Alf-Inge Haaland, has been filmed reacting harshly to English defender Djed Spence, whom he insulted and mocked for a controversial episode of the match, while also criticizing the refereeing.
The incident occurred in added time when Spence entered the opposition box and claimed to have been fouled. Referee Clement Turpin initially signalled a penalty for England, but after consulting the VAR system, he overturned the decision. The French referee awarded a free kick to Norway, considering that Spence himself had initiated the contact.
Alf-Inge Haaland's reaction was immediate. Cameras focused on him in the stands as he made ironic gestures with his hands above his head, suggesting that the Englishman had been faking. He then raised two fingers up and, according to lip movements captured by the cameras, was seen swearing with the words: "F off."
The former Norwegian footballer's dissatisfaction did not end in the stadium. He also reacted on the social network X, where he commented on a post about Jude Bellingham's second goal, with which England took the lead in extra time. In his reaction, Alf-Inge Haaland openly criticized the way the match was judged.
