Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has thanked the leaders of the European Union and the United Kingdom for their "support" and "readiness" to continue helping Kiev amid the ongoing war with Russia.
During a speech today, Zelensky stressed the importance of financial aid for the coming year, calling it "crucial" for the country's stability.
"Today, all partners confirmed that next year they will continue to support Ukraine, our country, our stability, especially financial support, which is essential ," Zelensky declared to European and British leaders.
The Ukrainian president sharply denounced Russia's actions, describing them as a campaign of terror against our energy system. According to him, Moscow is seeking to turn the winter cold into a tool of torture and pressure on Ukraine.
During an afternoon meeting with the coalition of the willing, Zelensky urged partner countries to focus on what is most practical and effective. To put pressure on Russia, he reiterated his call for tough sanctions and the seizure of frozen Russian assets in the West. Zelensky thanked US President Donald Trump for the sanctions imposed on Russian oil companies, calling them an important step in weakening the aggressor's economy.
He again called for equipping Ukraine with American long-range Tomahawk missiles, while expressing gratitude to British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for supplying Storm Shadow missiles, which have helped defend the eastern front.
"There should be no other choice for Russia than to end the war and restore peace to our country ," Zelensky concluded.
