Developments in the "aiding the enemy" case, involving "high-ranking individuals," have shocked Israel.
Israeli justice today filed charges, among other things, for "aiding the enemy in time of war," against Bezalel Zini, brother of the head of Israel's internal security service (Shin Bet), David Zini.
The case is related to a large smuggling network of various products to Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the prosecution announced.
Bezalel Zini and two other suspects are also being prosecuted, according to the indictment, for "organized, systematic and sophisticated" smuggling of products into Palestinian territory since June 2025, during the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
The three men are suspected of smuggling products such as cigarette boxes, mobile phones, solar panels and vehicle spare parts, by "deceiving soldiers at checkpoints in the Gaza Strip and falsely claiming that they were entering as part of their military service for security reasons."
At the time the criminal offenses were allegedly committed, Zini, a reservist, was the commander of a civil engineering unit in Gaza.
His brother, General David Zini, took over the Shin Bet in October 2025.
According to the prosecution, Bezalel Zini and the other defendants "knew of the possibility that the prohibited products would end up with Hamas and its members, as well as the high probability that this would aid the enemy in its war against Israel."
So far, charges have been filed against 12 Israelis and one company in connection with the matter.
