US President Donald Trump presented a collector's passport with his portrait, which will be circulated in limited numbers as part of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.
"The new US passport says: 'Welcome, but behave,'" Trump wrote in a post on the Truth Social platform.
The passport cover shows President Trump with a serious expression, leaning on his desk, with the text of the Declaration of Independence in the background and his signature at the bottom. The portrait appears to be based on a photograph taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok.
The second page contains a painting depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, with the inscription "United States of America 250".
The White House also published an image of the passport, accompanied by the comment: "Patriotic Passport."
To date, no sitting US president has appeared on a passport.
The announcement is part of a series of decisions aimed at leaving Trump's personal mark on important American buildings and symbols, prompting criticism of a cult of personality.
Donald Trump's signature will also be included on collectible banknotes, a first for a sitting president of the United States.
