Even King Charles faced the intense heat that has engulfed the United Kingdom during an environmental event at St James's Palace.
According to British media, the historic building is not equipped with an air conditioning system. The windows were closed and the curtains drawn, limiting the circulation of air in the room.
The event took place on Wednesday, when temperatures in Britain reached 35.8 degrees Celsius, setting a new record for the month of June.
Wednesday was recorded as the hottest June day in UK history. The temperature initially reached 35.7°C, breaking the record set in 1976, before rising to 35.8°C.
To help him cope with the heat, the Chief of Palace Services, retired Vice Admiral Tony Johnstone-Burt, held a small electric fan next to King Charles as he chatted with guests.
