
Several people have died and 17 others have been injured after an explosion in a residential building.
The horrific incident took place on Calea Rahovei in Bucharest, Romania. According to local media, a 17-year-old girl jumped from the building and is now in hospital.
Dr. Bogdan Opriţa, head of UPU-SMURD Bucharest, said: "There are 17 injured, 12 directly related to the explosion."
Of the injured, two are in serious condition, a person around 17 years old, polytrauma, intubated, ventilated, at the 'Grigore Alexandrescu' Hospital, and a burned woman who is at the 'Bagdasar Arseni' Hospital.

It is not yet known what caused the explosion, while investigations are ongoing, reports G4Media.RO.
It has been claimed that it was a gas explosion, but local officials confirmed that all gas in the building had been "turned off" before the explosion after a wind was reported in the area the day before.
