The White House announced today that it has fired an employee who was responsible for President Donald Trump's teleprompter, after he allegedly placed tens of thousands of dollars worth of bets on the content of presidential speeches, which he knew in advance.
The employee was fired "without severance pay," White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said during her press conference.
According to Leavitt, President Trump considered the entire event "really sad and, frankly, shameful."
